July 22nd Eclipse

July 22nd Eclipse—Power on All Planes

The Astronomical Details

This eclipse, the second of a series of three within a 30 day period.

On Wednesday July 22, 2009, a total solar eclipse of the Sun will be visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses half of Earth. The path of the Moon's umbral shadow begins at sunrise in India and crosses through Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China. The track crosses China for much of the morning before leaving the mainland near Shanghai. Observers just south of this city will experience nearly 6 minutes of totality. The track then moves out to open sea, over the Pacific Ocean. Maximum eclipse occurs about 195 miles east of Iwo Jima, where observers will see the Sun disappear for 6 minutes and 39 seconds. The path of totality ends at 04:18 UT as the lunar shadow leaves Earth 3.4 hours after it started its trek across our planet's surface. The 15,200 km long track covers 0.71% of Earth's surface. A partial eclipse is seen from a much larger area covering East Asia, Indonesia, and the South Pacific.

When the sun's rays are blocked out of the sky temporarily in the solar eclipse, the sky will darken and the brighter stars and planets will appear. The first bright star to the south of the eclipsed sun is Procyon in Canis Minor, and farther toward the horizon is Sirius in Canis Major. Just east of the eclipsed sun is Mercury and farther east is Saturn. Close to the eclipse's northwest are Castor and Pollux. Looking west of the eclipsed sun is Venus shining brightest, with Betelgeuse to its south and Capella to its north, and Mars lies a bit farther west of Venus.

Those not in the line of totality may get a shot to see a partial solar eclipse. From the lower half of Russia to Sri Lanka, eastward to include Japan, North & South Korea, Malaysia, northern Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Vietman, Cambodia, the Phillipines, Papua New Guinea, the far northern tip of Australia and the lion's share of Pacific islands, including Hawaii, observers will see differing degrees of a partial eclipse.

Though this eclipse will not be visible in the US or Europe, rest assured the impact will be global as it ushers in this phase of the years eclipse cycle with a potentially far reaching scope.

Master Opportunities Through Water and Choice

From an astrology report we read: “The eclipse of the Sun has traditionally been viewed with dread over the ages, as the great giver of life seems inexplicably to disappear from the sky. Birds prepare for bed; the sky darkens in the middle of the day. It seems as though something dreadful is about to happen. Over the years, experience has shown us that old things come to an end (or are overthrown!) under a solar eclipse and a new beginning can be made. The effect on the world of eclipses has been seen to be generally felt for some six months, until the next eclipse then restructures the cosmic energies.

Astrologically, solar eclipses signify the fall of the mighty (or at least, they're in big trouble!). Depending where in the zodiac the eclipse occurs, stress is always placed on the matters governed by that sign, or sector of the zodiac. A powerful Solar Eclipse can create massive havoc, in accordance with other aspects in the heavens at the time, as can be clearly seen by the trail of earthquakes and other disasters associated with the Solar Eclipse and Grand Cross of August 1999.”

Numerologically speaking, the total solar eclipse on July 22, 2009, which carries not only the master number 22 as the actual day number, but the full date then adds up to a 22-4, looks for all intents and purposes to be such an eclipse. However, not so fast, if we are learning anything from this powerful wave of eclipses for 2009 (including the solar eclipse on January 26th, and the lunar eclipse on February 9th) it’s that they are in keeping with the spiritual momentum of this very cosmic universal year, 2009, that carries the spiritual mastery number of 11-2 (2+0+0+9 =11-2) and is attempting to retune our energies to a higher frequency.

If you recall (see previous articles), the date of the January 26th event added up to 11-2, and the February 9th date added up to, again, the master number 22-4.

( side note: for those of you not familiar with master numbers, all the numbers that double themselves, 11, 22, 33, etc., represent the higher octave of their single digit sums, 2, 4, 6, etc., respectively, and therefore bring in the higher energies. However, though we do not reduce the master numbers by addition as with all other double digit numbers, 35, 23, 52, etc., we always list them with their lower digit sums because, due to the nature of their electrical qualities, bearers of master numbers must alternate between the higher and lower to keep from burning up! This in itself is a statement about the necessary integration of higher and lower energies, which seems to be what this eclipse cycle is all about!)

Additionally, though not a master number, the number for the most recent lunar eclipse on July 7, was 7, a sacred, spiritual and intuitive number for revealing the truth, along with seeing through the false self. However, a pattern begins to emerge that bears closer examination:

First of all, all of these numbers, 11-2, 22-4 and 7 are water element numbers. Granted, the two ones of 11 are fire, and the 4 is Earth, but we are concerned with the 2 repeated in both, which is a water element number, and we will see why this is important further on in the article. These numbers are also feminine in nature, which is in keeping with the 2000 (New Age, if you will) millennium, and all have to do with spiritual awakening.

Secondly, the visionary qualities of the 11-2, as given in the January eclipse, provide the spiritual inspiration for the integration of masculine and feminine energies (1 is masculine, 2 is feminine) to be grounded and embodied through the 22-4, as discussed in the article on the February lunar eclipse. These were an interesting and, seems to me, necessary preparation for the triple 7 plus 11-2 energy of the July 7, 2009 eclipse (7 +7+ (11) 2 = 16, 1+6 =7 ), which spoke to us about the importance of discernment between our false and true selves, because grounding and integrating (embodying) our spiritual energies is always necessary for the work of facing our false selves if we are truly to get the job done. (Side note: in tarot, 16 is the number of the tower card having to do with the karma of false or illegitimate love to be redeemed into the spiritual perfection of 7 through the crucifixion of the false self on the cross of love.)

But wait, there’s more! It seems all that was only the first layer of our transmutation into our true spiritual selves, as it prepared us for not only the double 22-4 in the total solar eclipse about to take place on the 22nd, but also for the second round of the 16-7 that will define the lunar eclipse on August 6, 2009 (8+6+(11)2 = 16, 1+6 =7!

What are the chances that all five of the eclipses so far this year add up to the master numbers of 11-2 (mirrors the year number), 22-4, twice, and the sacred spiritual (and karmic) number 16-7, twice? Also, two of these eclipses, July 7, and July 22, repeat their day numbers in the totals of the whole dates, July 7 = a 7 day and July 22 = a 22-4 day. And… they’re all water-y numbers! Pardon me, my friends, I just had to take the time to notice, because these “coincidences” can only be a cosmic reality of Divine Order (don’t you just love it?)!

So what does the double 22-4 of this total solar eclipse have in store for us? As I mentioned in a previous post, 22-4, as the material master, or master builder, represents power on all planes as it includes the vision of the 11-2 with the power to materialize it into form, and is therefore about laying spiritual foundations on a global scale. It represents construction, whether of organizations or physical structures, etc., on a grand scale, on the “positive” side. However, the opposite “negative” quality of destruction also exists as an equal potential manifestation of this energy.

The “negative” qualities of the 11-2, 7 and 22-4, are nervous fear, separation and destruction. Did I mention the fact that all of these eclipse numbers as water element numbers was important? The double 22-4 in a total solar eclipse, which has the power to multiply its intention 10,000 times, has the awesome potential to bring massive destruction through water, as from tsunamis and hurricanes and relentless torrential rains.

Are the messages of these eclipses about impending global weather disasters, as predicted and feared for centuries, or something else? Fear not! I bring this up not to frighten or shock, but to remind us all of the importance, and the precious gift of choice we have in our lives, because the “positive” qualities of these same numbers are illumination, integration and inner connection with Source, as well as the power to embody those qualities of energy on the material plane where they can achieve the highest of our dreams, goals and aspirations. Never mind averting global destruction, I’m talking about Heaven on Earth, here, in the realest sense, beyond what we ever imagined possible!

Could it be that these eclipses are cluing us in to what is needed to achieve the integration of spirit and matter? Water is an emotional element, a carrier wave for the electrical energy that is our soul and spirit, and it is through feeling our spiritual connection in the body that integration is made possible, and this feeling happens through the letting go of our negative mental constructs, our false sense of self, to reveal what is real and omnipresent underneath. The more we feel into this basic sanity, this basic goodness underneath, without interference from our negative mind, the more our thoughts will follow suit and our body will experience the healing that is integration.

The destruction and disintegration of the earth’s resources can be understood as a metaphorical representation (and manifestation) of our own fragmentation and disconnection from our destructive mental constructs that we consciously and unconsciously allow and perpetuate. Perhaps the eclipses are inviting us to rise above ourselves and take a look at what is really real and bring that knowing to our feelings of love for our planet and all upon it.

Some who fear the potential destruction that this solar eclipse and it’s eclipse helpmates can bring are instructed to pray for themselves and all those who may be affected. Those who choose to look around at life and see the basic goodness, our basic sanity, the omnipresent, unconditional love that abounds in the wholeness of the Earth, are asked to feel this knowing in the body, no matter what else is going on in your life, to drop down into your gut for at least five minutes (or ten, twenty, thirty…if it feels good, do it!) with a positively expectant attitude of “yes, it’s all good!” and really feel the energy of it in every cell of your body, every day from now on.

In this way, if we are sufficient in number, our intentional alignment with basic goodness will likely be reflected globally, as well as in our personal lives, and even if a necessary destruction does occur, it will more likely be lovingly guided by our integrated body/mind alignment toward a positive reconstruction that serves the highest good. This is what it means to be in the highest quality of the double 22-4 of the total solar eclipse destined for our beautiful skies on July 22, 2009, as the way has been prepared and given for us by the previous eclipses. The August 6 lunar eclipse will ask us to revisit the truth of ourselves once again as we continue to fine tune our energies toward the grand alignment of 2012. Please stay tuned for more details as the time approaches nearer to that date.

Blessings,

Candice Powers

PS

This eclipse is a once in a lifetime event (as we will have to wait hundreds of years to see its equivalent), because it is the longest, lasting in it's totality a full 6 minutes and 39 seconds, which of course adds up to 9. This signals a completion of the old in preparation for the new and all the more reason for taking stock in ourselves and letting go of that which no longer serves our highest good!
